1) ECM in general
ECM is useful on bonused ships, less so in general. Of course, if all you care is getting away, then ECM gives you an additional chance, but, if you are vigilant and always watch local & dscan, then you should be able to get away before anyone gets on grid with you. (Unless it's a stealth bomber tackler, but those are rare.)
2) ECM drones
If you have spare place for them on your myr, sure, why not, bring them. But on a Drake, you are horribly gimping your dps against frigates if you replace your combat drones with ECM drones. Again, the best thing is to watch dscan.
3) "Can't dock"
The weapon timer is 60 seconds. It starts & refreshes when you activate an aggressive module, including your drones attacking someone. If neither you nor your drones aggress back, you won't get it. (Note that activating an ECM module counts as an aggression and will give you the timer.)
4) Scanning time
Depends on many things, including the size of your ship or drones - because drones use a MWD, it's actually easier to scan down a medium drone than a BC (unless the BC also uses a MWD) Also, what radius did you use for your dscan? A 1AU range is good to see approaching ships, but might miss probes. As the max scan range for probes is 64AU, he can start scanning out of dscan range - add to that a good use of his own dscan to get your approximate position, probes might be within d-scan range for less than 10 seconds.
5) Mission location
Yes, a mission will spawn at the same place each day. However, it only spawns when the mission owner is warping towards it. And I would expect that the pirates bookmark the location in case they see you back. However, if you play in a different time zone (e.g. get up early one day to play before work) you should be able to avoid that specific batch of pirate to clear that mission. And if the pirates already scanned you down the day before, they did not have to use probes at all.
6) Tackled from far away
According to your kill-mail, they had an Arazu. Look it up. That Force Recon can warp cloaked and point you from 60km away.
7) Not accepting missions
You can reject a mission every four (4) hours. It doesn't matter whether you did 100 or 0 missions between the rejections, only the time elapsed. Note: this is only an option before you accept the mission.
8) Mission rewards
AFAIK the payout depends on where the agent is located, not the mission itself.
9) Size of pirate gangs
Solo pirates in low-sec exists. (Although even those often have an off-grid booster.) What you'll encounter will depend on your pocket of space. Solo pirates might be more common in high-sec, where targets are easier to kill, as they don't expect you. |
